The Never Ending Saga.... Favre is BACK! I think... no he's not. Wait, is he? YES.

Brett Favre has come out of retirement AGAIN.

The story of Brett Favre's lack of decision making does not have an end, yet, another chapter. Favre has signed a 2-year $25 million contract with the Minnesota Vikings. Sorry Sage. Sorry Tavaris. Coach Childress appreciates your hard work, but he really doesn't care. I love Brett Favre, but what strikes my nerves a little bit about this whole ordeal is the fact that, in my opinion, the head coach undermined the entire team. Coach Childress should have come out and said that Brett was his quarterback whenever he decided to return. He didn't. Instead he claimed to "close the door" on the situation three weeks ago when Favre said he would remain retired. Coach Childress, while adding a hall of fame quarterback to his team, might have some making up to do with much of his team. He should have been straight forward with his guys, instead he took a huge risk.

I hope it works out. It's going to be fun watching #4 play on a playoff caliber team one more time. Oh, let's not forget-- he gets to play against Green Bay two times. Exciting stuff.

Vikings = NFC North Champs. Superbowl?

Word.

  1. While I value "The Truths" opinion, I do not see the 40 year old carrying the Vikings to a NFC championship... or even a divisional championship. If you look at #4's stats since his 2005 season, throwing 84 picks to his 88 touchdowns is just proving that Brett has been sliding at a rapid pace downhill, not to mention having a tear in his bicep tendon and a "slight tear in his rotator cuff".....

While it will help open the powerful running game of Mr. A.P. and give a deep threat to people like Berrian and Harbins, was it really worth 12 million dollars? Why would you spend the money on Favre when you could have gone out to get a Vick for 1 million or someone young to build around your young and explosive team.

Vikings, will go .500 this year, but will be in trouble once #4 gets his cage rattled. Looking at the schedule, he will not only face his long time Cheesehead Packers twice, he will have to face defenses like The Ravens (hello Mr. BallHawk), The Panthers, Steelers, Cards, Bears, Giants..... I see a lot more ints for the original Cheesehead in the very near future...

I will watch carefully as my Bears make #4 wish he had stayed in east bumble Mississippi

  2. Did you forget... Favre and the Packers were one play away from the Super Bowl two years ago. He took a 4-12 team and improved them to 9-7 last year. If a 37 year can do it, why cant a 39 year old do it?

Elway won super bowls at the age of 37 and 38 with a stellar running game and solid defense. Don't count your eggs before they hatch. It's entirely possible.

  3. I am not doubting that #4 will go down as one of the greatest of all time. My point is that signing a two year $25 million dollar contract to a 40 year old is a bad move.

The "9-7 team" that he helped improve went into self destruct mode in December when Favre suffered a bicep injury, and subsequently, made his numbers drop. The Jets went 1-4 over the last leg of the season, while Favre threw nine TDs and nine picks.

Do not overlook that Favre never had surgery on his bicep, a procedure recommended by doctors.

This is why I think it is a mistake to sign #4 when for that much when you could be finding a young QB to help you team in the long run, or developing Booty..

  4. They still could develop a guy like Booty. Now he has the benefit of learning for THE best of all time. The Vikings are a win now kind of team. They have the foundation of a champion; excellent running game and excellent run defense. Sorry, the QB situation of Rosenfels and Jackson isn't going to get them to the promise land. Favre MIGHT. And as an organization, that's worth the risk.

    Time will tell. Bears stink.

    The Truth, OUT.
